A couple of weeks ago I was talking to a friend of mine and  somehow she started telling me about the “No Poo method”. I had never heard it before so I seriously had no clue what she was talking about. Once I got home I started doing some research and I found out it was much more popular than I thought. The basic explanation is that “to go No Poo” means to stop using shampoo, but I think there is so much more behind it. 

First, shampoo is expensive and chemicals in it can irritate and dry out your scalp and hair. Second your body is designed to produce oil that naturally condition your hair and keep it healthy. Using shampoo every day or every other day upsets the natural balance and causes you to produce more oil than necessary to compensate. When I read all that a brand new world opened up to me… basically giving up shampoo not only was going to be better for my hair but it will be better for the environment and my pockets 🙂 

Once I made my decision I realized I was going to go through what its called “a transitional period” where my body had to adjusts to produce just enough oil to keep your hair healthy. I am now at my second week and I found out that the most effective way to handle this is to use baking soda and vinegar. I was my hair every 3-4 days with a cup of water with a teaspoon of baking soda in it and then I rinse with a cup of water and 2 teaspoon of vinegar. 

Again I am just two weeks into this but I will keep you posted ; )
